Financial Assistance, Ontario Works

If you qualify, Ontario Works can provide you with funds to help cover the costs of your basic needs (for example food and housing costs). This is called financial assistance.

The amount of benefit you may receive from OW will depend on the following:

Applying for Ontario Works assistance

To apply for Ontario Works or one-time emergency assistance, you can:

Apply online, available 24 hours, in English at Ontario Social Assistance or in French at Ontario Aide sociale
Call toll-free at 1-888-999-1142 or toll-free/TTY at 1-800-387-5559 (not available for one-time emergency assistance), Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Contact the local office by calling 613-771-9630 or 1-866-414-0300

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Please have the following information readily available for all members of your family before calling:

Address in full, including postal code
Date of birth
Social insurance numbers
Health card numbers
income/earning details (e.g., pay stubs)
Banking information (e.g., account information, including account balances)
Accommodation information (e.g., rent or mortgage details, utility costs)
Asset details (e.g., life insurance)
