Come Treasure Hunting in Bancroft, "the Mineral Capital of Canada" with the guy who literally wrote the book on Mineral Collecting in Bancroft!
2026 SCHEDULE: June 6 & 27, July 8, 11, August 5 & 8, September 2, 5 & 26, October 3
Meet & Greet at Lakeside Gems Rock Shop at 9:15 am to sign Waiver Forms (requirement of participation).
A short presentation will be made on rockhounding in Bancroft and an opportunity to see specimens common to the locations to be visited. Mineral Collecting Sites visited will be within a 45 minute drive from the shop.
You bring your own vehicle and travel convoy style following the Geologist.
- Bring your own lunch, snacks, water & gear, etc.
- must have proper footwear, (no open toed shoes allowed!), & anyone using hand tools will be required to wear safety glasses
- Recommended tools include: small hand tool for digging, e.g. gardening claw, trowel, or a hammer
- gloves are recommended, and be prepared for bugs
- please note - there is no bathroom on-site -- just lots of trees
- Trip runs rain or shine
Chris stays on-site until 4 pm
