Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services has opened a new ambulance base in the municipality of Stirling-Rawdon.
“The opening of this base is an exciting milestone for Hastings County,” stated CAO Connor Dorey. “Like all healthcare services across the province, our paramedic service has seen a large increase in calls for service since the pandemic. The ongoing commitment of both our Emergency Services Committee and County Council continues to support our efforts to respond to the needs of our residents and communities.”
“The Stirling base is strategically positioned to improve paramedic service delivery in Central Hastings while continuing to support call volume surges in Belleville and Quinte West,” added Paramedic Chief, Carl Bowker.
The new facility includes several essential features including, a decontamination bay for ambulances, a training facility for staff development, logistics and maintenance workspaces, equipment storage, and it will house the Community Paramedic Program.
“This initiative to build a new base began in 2020 and was driven by the need to provide additional services in the central portion of our County,” said Warden Mullin. “Our goal was clear: to address the increasing demands on the service, while accommodating for future growth, and continuing to ensure that every resident receives prompt medical attention when needed.”
