Home for Good (HFG) provides individualized support to households experiencing chronic homelessness in Hastings County. HFG was implemented in 2017, and since then, eligible households have received assistance from the following partner agencies:

  • Canadian Mental Health Association Hastings Prince Edward 

  • Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre

  • Enrichment Centre for Mental Health 

  • John Howard Society of Belleville

  • Pathways to Independence

  • Youthab Quinte Inc 

These partner agencies provide a wide range of supports including, but not limited to:

  • Counselling       

  • Crisis prevention

  • Harm reduction 

  • Assistance with substance use issues

  • Support with mental health and mental illness

  • Support with physical and cognitive disabilities

  • Pre-discharge and discharge planning from provincial institutions

  • Household assistance

  • Development of support plans

  • Assistance with maintaining rental tenancy

  • Assistance with basic needs such as personal care

  • Shopping 

  • Food purchasing and meal prep

  • Assistance with transitioning to other forms of housing that better meet the individual’s needs

  • Assistance with referrals to other services 

With the support of the Province of Ontario, Hastings County's first purpose-built supportive housing building was created. 
 

HFG vacancies are not filled from the chronological waitlist. Partner agencies each have a select number of units allocated and fill vacancies from their agencies’ existing clients who meet the HFG eligibility criteria. 
 

Eligibility Criteria
Support is available to households experiencing chronic homelessness (have been homeless for six months or more in the year prior to accessing HFG supports) as well as to those who fall within one or more of the following provincial priority areas:

  • People experiencing chronic homelessness
  • Youths experiencing homelessness
  • Indigenous people experiencing homelessness
  • People experiencing homelessness following transition from provincially funded institutions and service systems (e.g., hospitals, correctional facilities)

If you are interested in being referred to HFG, meet this eligibility criteria, and are a client of one of the listed partner agencies, contact your support worker at that agency. 
 

Or if you are interested in being referred to HFG, meet this eligibility criteria but are not a client of one of the partner agencies listed, you must first apply for services from one of the partner agencies listed.
